In August 1988, the multi-talented artist verbally attacked George for achieving success in the Black music chart. The artist said,

“That . . . that George Michael. Who does he think he is? We’ve gotta stop him. Just kidding, George, wherever you are–just kidding. He’s doing better on the Black charts than the black singers. […] What gives? The brothers must not be doing something right if he can come in and take over.”

He further stated that he didn’t want to take the success away from Michael but just want to point out that White singers tend to get more opportunities than black singers.
