Former NBA star Dennis Rodman is famous for his time in the NBA team Chicago Bulls. Apart from his exceptional Basketball skills, Rodman is also famed for his flamboyant personality.
Dennis never was someone who can control, not even the great Michael Jordan. Although he has had many affairs with the ladies in the past, questions about his sexual orientation remained in the media. Further fueling the fire was his comment regarding loving both men and women.
So what is the whole truth? Here today we shall find out!
Is Dennis Rodman gay? He Believed He Was Gay
Well, no, Dennis is not gay. If we have to say anything in regard to his sexuality then he is definitely a bisexual, from all the comments he has given over the years. However, during his appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Dennis revealed that when he was 14 or 15 years old, he used to believe he was gay.
He said,
“I was very shy and very insecure. You know, I thought that when I was 14, 15, that I was gay because I hung out with my sisters a lot. Everybody was like, ‘You got any guy friends?’ and I was like, ‘No.’ I felt secure hanging out with my mother and my sisters.”
Throughout his time in the NBA, Dennis was also famous for his cross-dressing. The often eccentric man used to wear opposite-gender clothing in several events prompting rumors that he belongs to the LGBT community. However, some sources even say that Dennis never had any issues becoming intimate with not just women but with men as well.
Although it cannot be ascertained what is Dennis Rodman’s real sexual orientation is, we can say he really paved the way for many to be whatever their heart desires them to be. His status as a five-time champion really made him a masculine figure amongst the sports fanatic, but he broke down all the stereotypes by wearing anything he wanted, especially feminine clothing.

Rodman used to visit Gay Clubs
Back in 2021, Dennis Rodman was announced as the GQ Men of the Year. He then sat down for an interview with a magazine during which he revealed what used to inspire him during his NBA career.
Dennis said that when he visited these clubs and met drag queens he felt motivated to be who is and not be ashamed of anything. He told GQ, “In San Antonio I started going to gay clubs. I started going to drag clubs. I started bringing drag queens to games.”
The Five Time NBA champion added, “When you talk to people in the gay community, someone who does drag, something like that, they’re so fucking happy. They hold their head up so high every fucking day, man. They’re not ashamed of shit. They’re not trying to prove anything, they’re just out there living their lives.”
Well, Dennis is a prime example of you can be whatever your heart chooses to be without worrying about what the world might think. Besides, it looks like Dennis is one of those athletes who are rumored to be gay just because of the way they carry themselves just like Mark Spitz, who is also rumored to be gay.

Rodman has been in a relationship with a lot of girls in the past, especially with a couple of celebrities. In 1994, he dated Pop legend Madonna. The pair dated for a couple of months before separating. This was Rodman’s highly publicized dating affair.

What’s more, the New Jersey-born NBA star once claimed in a show that Madonna offered him $20 million to get her pregnant. Nevertheless, their relationship ended because Rodman didn’t want to be “Madonna’s Playboy, her boy toy.”
Afterward, he started dating actress Carmen Electra. They met for the first time in 1998 and got married in the November of the same year. Following their Las Vegas wedding, Rodman had this to say, “I love Carmen and am proud to be married to her.”
